Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA) is proud to announce the appointment of Ms Kate Taylor as its new Chair. 

Ms Taylor is Director of Industry Engagement – Health and Social Impact at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and brings over 14 years of experience in technology transfer, business development, and commercialisation, she has successfully driven innovation and industry collaboration across diverse sectors including health, agriculture, defence, education, and creative industries. 

Outgoing chair Mr Quin Chang said Ms Taylor will bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to the organisation.

“Kate’s appointment is set to further KCA’s mission of advocating for research commercialisation professionals, providing globally accredited training and networking opportunities and celebrating achievements in Australasian innovation.

“Kate’s authentic leadership combined with her passion for the translation of impactful research that our profession lives and breathes will be instrumental in driving KCA’s mission forward.” 

“I look forward to continuing to support KCA’s strategic goals as a member of the Board under her leadership,” Mr Chang said.

Ms Taylor thanked Mr Chang for his service to date.

“On behalf of the Board and KCA members across Australia and New Zealand, I thank Quin for his steady leadership and lasting contribution — from establishing network chairs to strengthening peer connections, to championing initiatives that have lifted capability and collaboration across the sector,” Ms Taylor said.

Ms Taylor’s involvement with KCA stems back to 2015, when she received a KCA Scholarship.  In 2023, Ms Taylor became Chair of the KCA Queensland Network, and in 2023, she chaired the Annual Conference Committee, joining the Board in 2024.

Mr Chang was elected to KCA’s Board in 2018, and has served as Chair since 2021. He established the KCA Local Networks in 2021, Chaired the KCA Victorian Network and Chaired the Conference Committee from 2019-2021.
